After installing the latest two v18 patches to correct the 3CX license certificate issue (now at 18.0 Update 8 - Build 939) eleven of our 3cx installations can no longer scan QR codes to provision an extension, they get a message at the top of the dialpad screen saying, "No Active Profile". I still have 5 sites running 18.0 Update 5 - Build 418, and they can still scan QR codes with no issues, until I patch this Friday and break them. We are running an older version of the softphone client on our Android phones, we would update if we could, so I'm not sure if this has something to do with it (version not supported) or did the update change something in the 3CX admin portal such as some provisioning port is blocked?

Hi @Thiek, please try to perform the test using the pbx on version 18.0.8.939 and with the application running version 18.1.5.290

Then access into the webclient using the FQDN and try to provision the app using the QR Code.

HTTPS port must be opened publicly, there must be a vali SSL Certificate and the tunnel port 5090 must be open for both TCP/UDP.

In the pbx management console ---- settings ---- network --- FQDN --- the sip domain must be with the pbx fqdn.

This should work without issues.

Thanks Alejandro. This is the pickle I'm in. We have 17 warehouses, each running 3cx, and each has around 30 to 40 android handheld units used by specific staff. The devices are locked down and only run about 9 apps needed to complete their job (Outlook, Teams, Camera, Bar Code scanning, Chrome, some Inventory apps). The devices are running android Nougat and they will not run an OS newer than Nougat which to me falls under "planned obsolescence" as it requires us to purchase their newer model. However, the devices work fine as the apps installed work, well except 3cx.

Because it run Nougat OS we cannot update the 3cx softphone client to version 18.1.5.290 or even come close to this, we're still on v16 but it has worked perfect fine for our needs as all we do is make and receive phone calls on the devices. We're not hosting video calls, etc.

I can install and run the physical provisioning file, this works but not scanning the QR. To provision from a file is a lot of work because the devices are locked down. From my PC I have to log into the webclient using the ext./credentials to be provisioned, download the 3cxconfig file to my pc, then transfer the file to the device using Teams which sometimes requires me to log into Teams on the device as some end-users do not use Teams. I then remote into the device, locate the downloaded file and run it. It's a lot of work especially if 17 warehouses are going to ping me.

Yes, future plans to rollout newer devices to all 17 warehouses, it's a big project and costly, easily a million just for the devices which doesn't include project labor, etc. etc.

Any other suggestions, such as is there a way to get a newer version of the softphone client installed on an older Android OS (Nougat)? I tried to install the latest but I get a parse error.

Hi, this OS is not supported for the last 3CX app version, I’m afraid that the OS must be upgraded to 8+
