Solved Snom 710 firmware upgrade: File Not Found, Error:99

Trying to bring on an old Snom 710 and update with 3cx firmware. Did the following

1. Boot, and do a settings reset
2. Go to the webserver settings page. Add the following URL to the software update tab https://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/v180/templates/firmwareupdates/snom/snom710-8.9.3.96-SIP-r.bin

Click Apply

Start to download the file (or it looks like it) then immediatly goes to a screen that says "File Not Found Error: 99"

I've done this a bunch on a past phones with success, but it seems that there has been a recent update and it's not working.

Might be a SSL version, cipher, or cert issue.

Try using http

http://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/v180/templates/firmwareupdates/snom/snom710-8.9.3.96-SIP-r.bin

Yep, snom phones for some reason don't like firmware upgrade over https from our experience.
