Hello everyone,
we would like to sync the status of MS Teams with 3cx.
No calls should be made with MS Teams, only the status of 3cx and MS Teams should be compared.

Our expectation:
3cx absent -> Status MS Teams absent
3cx available -> MS Teams available
Call via MS Teams -> 3cx busy
Call via 3cx -> MS Teams busy
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any precise information about the presence status, neither in the forum, in instructions, nor in Google.

From what I've found so far:
- Sync is part of Microsoft Teams Direct Routing
- According to the feature list, MS Teams integration is only possible with the Enterprise version. In the Pro version we tested, I also have the options for Microsoft Teams Direct Routing.

Are these assumptions correct?

Who uses this feature and can give me information?
- Can only the sync status be compared?
- Lets Encrypt would also work based onb the list from Microsoft permitted certificates. Can anybody confirm this?
- Does the sync work if we only carry out steps 1 + 2 with Microsoft 365 integration?
- Experience values?
- Is additional licensing MS Teams required?

Best regards
Alexander Schwarz

3CX doesn't currently have a presence sync with Teams. There's no way to do it either.

Syncing of Teams presence

With the reworking of the Microsoft 365 integration, we are moving up to the latest APIs and it will become possible to sync the Teams presence to 3CX.
Between the lines and based on the words "reworking", "we are moving up to the latest APIs" there is a way to do this.

But as i said: i can´t find any options inside 3cx to do this (simular to calendar) or with google or inside manuals or inside this forum.

Roadmap stuff.. No idea when it will be done. Keep an eye on the blog for whenever they do updates on the integration.

hello ConceptsWeb,
I don't want to get on your toes and thank you for the answers, i also have seen your amount of answers. :)
But I need a verified answer from 3cx.
So is there any official 3cx employee to confirm this assumption?

@Nick Galea can probably tell you their roadmap better. I think he'll be making a blog post about all of that soon.

Its on our roadmap, we cant give exact dates though. Hopefully first half of this year.

Hello Nick,
so this is right now not implemented?

There are a few pieces to the puzzle here. Setting Teams' presence according to 3cx call state is easy (once you have access to the 3cx API). On Microsoft's side it is a simple Graph API call that can be done using application permission.

The other way around you would have to setup a MS Graph subscription for presence changes. Unfortunately this currently only works with delegated permissions - and I guess that's why the guys at 3cx have been postponing this for quite a while now.
Microsoft just implemented application permissions for the getPresence call two months ago. Unfortunately this does not yet work with subscriptions (which has been announced unofficially for 2024H2).

I wouldn't expect 3cx to implement the sync feature before MS Graph implements the application permissions on presence for subscriptions.

I showed a working example here https://blog.loetzimmer.de/2023/04/teams-presence-synchronization-for-3cx.html?m=1

We're using a modified version for about 400 users for about a year now.

This is coming in SP2 for v20. We do not yet have an ETA for when it will be released.

Hello Charles,

With the release of 3CX v20u2 , we know that the presence can be synced two-way with MS Teams.
Is this done using API? Is there any way we can get some information in regards on how this works?
We were able to use API to control presence with V16 and now with all these enchancements and updates since v18 was released we cannot..

Thank you
