Hi all, I have a 3CX system that Im using with a SIP Trunk Provider that is not supported by 3CX.
When I upgrade to v20 will I be able to use the same SIP trunk provider? I saw somewhere that 3CX v20 supports only CallCentric, Voxtelesys, VoiceMeUp, VoIP.MS and Wavix.

You do, but they are all resellers - none are CLECs. I understand that on the Free and SMB licenses, unsupported providers are not listed, but I'm just doing a new install of a PRO license, and having issues as the Generic provider is no longer listed. This is a backward step and makes working with 3CX more and more difficult.

When you say a pro install, are you installing on 3cx hosted with version 20 or self hosted on-prem with either v 20 or v18?

Just type g for Country

This is 3CX hosted. All of our smaller installs we are moving to hosted if the customer doesn't host it themselves.

As for that I don't know, I host all my systems so I have access to everything

With 3CX hosted in v20, there are no generic provider template.

That is no longer an option:

Correct there is no option for a genric provider

From the 3CX Hosted page:

It is recommended to use a supported, registration-based SIP trunk provider

But that's not required - just recommended. Back in January, I set up a hosted instance and had no issue adding generic sip trunks.

But that makes 3CX hosting almost useless, as the "supported" provider list in Canada changes faster than the weather. I've had several conversations with Costas and this is a HUGE issue. 3CX already doesn't support issues with SIP trunks/providers, so why do you care what provider I use?

The tested and supported providers undergo vigorous testing to ensure that, when used with 3cx, all the required features work to provide you and your customers with the best possible experience.

When using untested providers, we cannot know the outcome and expected behavior; therefore, we are unable to advise or provide support for them and advise against their use.

Please consider using one of our tested sip trunk providers from the many providers we do support from the list below, from which we would be more than happy to assist if there are any issues.

But you don't support SIP trunks, even when they are on the "supported" list. From your own hosted instance information page:

What we are saying here is that we don't configure or provision them for you, but we provide support with supported sip trunks if there are any issues with them, such as call routing, audio, registration, etc., which we will not entertain with any untested providers.

That is fair. I think we all understand what "unsupported" means, which is why I don't understand it. Just like I can set up any phone I want on an extension, but if it's not supported hardware, then it's not supported and any issues are for us to deal with.

It's just frustrating that this keeps changing. 3CX hosting is a good solution, and is simply and fairly priced. But unannounced changes like this make us want to move it all back to our own cloud.
