Solved WhatsApp issue

Hello, I am having a weird issue with WhatsApp. When I do a test API from Meta I get the test message. Replies back and forth between 3cx and WhatsApp work fine ( after the API test message). If I try to initiate a new chat with our business number from a Whatsapp client on the phone, the user doesn't show as an existing WhatsApp user, instead, it asks me to invite the user via sms. I looked through all the configurations and I can not seem to find the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

I am not sure I understand your scenario exactly. Are you trying to initiate a WhatsApp conversation from your phone to the 3CX PBX? Who is the initiator and who is the target?

I am sorry if I did not make sense in my previous post. So When I try to initiate a conversation from a WhatsApp client, It appears that the number doesn't exist in WhatsApp. When I initiate chat from Whatsapp API (facebook) I get the Hello World chat and messages back and forth work correctly. I close the chat, try to create a WhatsApp client to my business number chat and I get what is in the screenshot.

From your description I understand that you have successfully added a Whatsapp number to your 3CX and you can reach it via the Whatsapp API but you cannot see if from other Whatsapp clients.
Please confirm this is the issue.

That is exactly the issue!

This could probably mean that your account is not verified by Whatsapp and that is why the number does not show up and you get the prompt to invite them.

It's very odd. The number is verified and connected. when I use the a message link it works fine but not from WhatsApp client directly.

adding a 1 before the area code to my business number in my contact list fixed the issue.
