Hi Guys,

We have Whatsapp going to a Q.

My colleague has informed me that today, on receiving a whatsapp to our number in 3CX, he's received it in his Whatsapp on his mobile too.

Whatsapp is on our MBN. He does not have this on his mobile.

How is this possible and how is this prevented?

Hi,

Meta offers for Whatsapp what they call "Coexistence", the details for which can be found below:

From your description we believe this was set-up for this number. The colleague's phone app can apparently be unlinked.

Please let us know if this was the cause, and if it's sorted.

Thanks,
Kyriacos
Thanks for this.

Cant access it without doing it from WA for business app apparently and my colleague is having trouble sorting that.

weird thing is - i just sent a WA to our number, it came to 3CX but not his personal WA.

under no circumstance would this colleague have been involved, let alone set up for WA for business so we're struggling to figure out how this happened.

There are rumours on the internet that if two whatsapp sessions are opened on the same browser, whatsapp can mess up cookies and mix the accounts.. But that's just heresy and maybe even AI hallucination. If you find a clear cause, or clear fix, do let us know.

Hi Kyriacos,

this all happened on a mobile device, not browser.

will let you know if I figure it out.

This wouldn't normally be caused by 3CX. If the same WhatsApp message is appearing on your colleague's phone, I'd first check whether that device is linked to the WhatsApp Business account being used with 3CX.

It's worth reviewing the linked devices in WhatsApp and removing any devices that shouldn't have access. Also check that the number isn't still being used in a separate WhatsApp/WhatsApp Business app on a mobile device.

If everything is configured correctly, the messages should only be handled through the 3CX clients.

There is no chance his phone was set up for the business whatsapp outside of the 3CX SMS integration for it.
