Yealink just release their 66.86.05 firmware. Upgraded all the phones (T465) and it changed the external ring tone.

Configuring the ring tone in the phone doesn't change anything, nor does it if changing it under the provisioning tab on the PBX. The only time I can edit it is if I log into the phones GUI and change it there. Anyone else experiencing this phenomenon?

Not sure where to turn since the firmware upgrade caused the issue.

We performed this upgrade after hours Friday. Saturday our users complained of the same issue. We had to go into phone templates and copy the Yealinkt4x.ph.xml and save it as a custom template. Then we scrolled down to find the "Distinctive Ring Tones" section. What we needed to change was on line 1990.

distinctive_ring_tones.alert_info.2.text = external
distinctive_ring_tones.alert_info.2.ringer = 2

It is set to use Ring 2 as the default ring for External calls. We use Ring 1, so we changed line 1990 to;

distinctive_ring_tones.alert_info.2.ringer =1

You then have to go into each phone in the 3CX Management console that was affected and in the Provisioning tab;
* Copy the MAC Address
* Delete the phone
* Add a new phone by scrolling down and choosing the new template you created. It will be under "Custom".
* Re-provision

Indeed the firmware upgrade caused an issue with the ringtone, but has since been fixed with a template update about 5 hours ago.

Update the template and reprovision, it should OK then.

If you switched to using custom templates, first switch to the default one, then update.
Is this included in the update I see waiting to be delivered in my management console? Version 109361

Nevermind I see it is through the link you shared. Thank you!

Confirmed it's working now. Thank you for such a rapid response. And it was also a good lesson to always deploy new firmware to just a few test phones first!
