When 3CX VoIP Client registers using IP address, everything works fine but when 3CX VoIP Client registers under 3cx.companyname.com (DNS name) – IT CAN ACCEPT CALLS BUT CANNOT MAKE CALLS.. What do you think is the problem? Can someone help me?

Hi arvine

arvine, Voip Client is no longer supported since December last year. Sorry for inconvenience.
Regarding issue, generally in cases of DNS resolution problems, use IP address instead of name.

Regards
vali

are there no other ways that i can use DNS name instead of IP address? thanks

Hi
The old Voip Client lacks this feature, not resolving names. The new Voip Phone allow this feature, but it doesn't provide the "presence" list.

hi just wondering, what do you mean by new voip phone? is this a hardware phone or software phone?

do you have a link on what software phones are supported by 3cx now? because in our company we use the 3cx voip client, and as it is no longer supported as you say, we need a replacement to it

Hi

The 3CX Voip Phone is our official softphone - the replacement of our old Voip Client, which has been discontinued.
However, few advices for you:
- unlike Voip Client, it does not provides the "presence" list.
- it is much easier to configure but, if you plan to tunnel-connect it to a PBX less than 7.1, do not use it (tunnel audio protocol has been updated/changed).
- if you have a Voip Client installed, you may install the Voip Phone on the same machine, it doesn't conflict, excepting if you explicitely require same port.

You may download it here
