Hi,
Ik noticed that, in android version 13 and onwards, it is not possible to have the 3cx app as default phone app.

Regards Frank

Hi @FDavid, what do you mean as default phone app? could you please elaborate more what is not possible anymore?

Hi Alejandro, in Android up to version 11, when you go to Settings>Apps>Default apps>Phone app, it is possible te select the 3CX
(see screenshot), this isn't possible anymore on Android version 13/14.

Meanwhile, I did some tests and Android now asks which app to use to perform a Call action, so I don't think this causes a problem.

Hi @FDavid I think this is more related to the OS rather than the application itself. Using Android 14 new permissions are needed as shown here, but these are for other specific settings.

Testing the last version of the app with and old version of Android (12) it shows the app to use it as default, so is not something related to the application but to the OS.

@FDavid
@Alejandro_3CX is right - but just to be sure, on Android 13/14, based on the configuration for which you provided the screenshot above, can you set the Bria as the default phone app? If neither 3CX nor Bria cannot, then definitely it's an OS restriction.

Hi all,
This is affecting me as well with my recent trade-in to an android 14 phone. While, to @Vali_3CX 's point, it is an OS issue, other SIP apps are not affected. After some research it appears that the Android OS changed some APIs. I would think 3CX could adapt to the the changes as other apps have (ACR phone app for example shows up as a native phone app and can do SIP). I'd really like to see the 3cx app working again as a native dialer.

@hfeusi other SIP apps might still be targeting Android 13 as their required Android SDK.
Therefore those apps will work still on Android 14, but use Android 13 SDK functionality.
Our app is targeting Android 14 SDK, whereby which the Android OS restrictions are applied.

So How is this an answer, you are just confirming that the 3cx app is not fully supporting the android 14sdk, but has been implemented with the android sdk14, why implement the sdk, if you are not fully supporting it?

Actually, I think it is the other way around. We are utilising the Android 14 SDK which restricts which apps can be used as the phone app.

@marlon006 our client has been fully supporting the Android 14 sdk since launch

Hello,

Do we have an idea of how to get the 3CX Appear on the default apps as prior to Android version 13 ?

By getting Google to consent and add this to their SDK!
