Solved 3cx app for Android and IOS

Hello,

I see that new app is showing padlock during call, but I would like to know what that means exactly.
Does that mean that all SIP and RTP traffic is encrypted? If Yes, which type of encryption is used?

Yes, it does mean that the traffic between the device and the 3CX server is encrypted.

These applications use the 3CX tunnel, so it will be this traffic that is encrypted.

Not sure what encryption is used.

I would like to get more details if possible.
1. I guess that all traffic including SIP + RTP is encrypted? I just need confirmation.
2. Which type of encryption is used?
Our client wants to know this before they make a decision if they will switch to 3cx or not.
Getting official response would be great, or if someone could point me to the documentation with all of the details where I can find answers to my questions.

Hi Goran,

The tunnel encrypts the SIP and RTP traffic in our own proprietary format.

The connection between the PBX and the app is established via this tunnel during calls when you see the lock.

In addition, the presence and provisioning runs over HTTPS

Just one more thing, that proprietary encryption isn't some weak obfuscation encryption like before?
I just want to make sure that voip traffic can't be easily decrypted.

As far as I'm aware, when you see the lock it's encrypted rather than encapsulated. Follow up with the email address I sent you please so you can get more detailed specifications
