Hi

The phone clients shall be mainly internal but there shall be 2 or 3 external parties as well as 2 parties that will connect internally and externally.

Would you recommend putting the 3CX server in front or behind ISA server?

What TCP traffic would one expect for a typical IP call?

3CX Phone System behind a firewall

I would suggest placing 3CX Phone System behind the firewall.

You would have to unblock ports for calls being made via a VOIP Provider. For example, if you wish to make up to 4 simultaneous calls via a VOIP Provider, you would have to unblock 4 ports for that. Further ports will need to be unblocked for incoming calls, following the same principle.

For the clients that are connecting to the phone system as users from outside the firewall, it would be best if they could connect to the network via VPN and then appear as internal users.

In the next build (to be released over the next few days), you can specify which ports are to be used for internal calls and which ports for external calls. This way you can drastically reduce the range of ports one needs to open.

Thanks for your reply.

Could you please advise which ports listed in the manaul should be inbound to the 3CX server and which shoudl appear as outbound from the server?

This would avoid me playing around with a sniffer to figure out the direction.

Please excuse the dummy questions but im new to VOIP
