We noticed after migrating 3CX PBX that the X6U and X4U have the contact fields misalligned:

1) The 3cx field "Mobile" is fed into the Fanvil phone contact field "business".
2) The other phone number fields (mobile, business) of 3CX are ignored and do not get displayed in the fanvil phones.
3) If a contact has no first & last name, it is not listed by the phones!

I did several tests to see which fields actually get displayed by the fanvil phones based on test data i put into the company contact list of V18.0.234 (3CX Windows) and V18.0.237 (3CX Debian 10) systems.

All fanvil phones (X6u, X4u, X210) are running the latest 3cx templates and firmware (2.4.12).

i have also reported this issue to Fanvil a week ago but now solution yet. Could this be an issue with the new template update we got with the upgrade to v18? I would presume it is more an error in the firmware?

This is just how the phonebook works on phones. Only 1 number (because not all phones are equal) and only if at least a first name or last name or company name is set. Otherwise, most phones won't take the entry anyway.

Snom, Yealink, Grandstream, it's all the same.

Use the Webclient/DesktopApp in CSTA mode to allow more control and all contacts infos to be seen.

I just realized that the Phones only display the company directory but not the personal phone directory. Is there a way to solve this in the X6U or is also impossible to display the personal phone directory in the fanvil phones?

It is also not possible. The phonebook files are generated from the company phonebook because there's only 1 file.

As I said, the best way to access all contacts is to use the apps.

Hello,
first, the milion-dollar question: supposing we can have only one phone number per contact entry because of the <Telephone> tag, who did say that the Mobile number is the one to use? I'd say that Business number is more appropriate in my scenario.
Then, the second question, how can I accomplish this? Custom template? What? And how?

Please provide a working solution for this.
A reply form 3cx guys would really be appreciated.

Best regards,
Marco

Hello,

Currently there is no way to change this behavior, if you want numbers to be populated on deskphones your only option is to use the mobile field in the 3CX company phonebook.

The apps are more flexible and allow you more options, but for the deskphones there are no plans to change this behavior for now.

There are a few ideas that have been posted regarding this, you could upvote them for future consideration:

Hello,
I'm rather disappointed. I'd have expected the best functionality coverage for those 3cx defines as "Preferred IP Phones"... Because it's not a technical issue, nor you can say that you cannot distinguish between brands / phones, it seems to me that the lack of coverage is only driven by marketing matters: you want your apps to be the only full feature clients. When you state "Do you really need deskphones for every workstation?" you confirm you are missing that in production environments desktop and mobile phones (DECT technology) are the unique option.
Fortunately, I've just read about German guys who did a good job with snom and gigaset, I'll see if I can make it work even for fanvil.
I'd appreciate if you can provide details on how fanvil phonebook (https://host:5001/provisioning/.../fanvil_phonebook.xml) is generated.

Best regards,
Marco
