Hi All,
I need assistance to activate our 3CX license. Thread title is the error I am getting trying to activate our license. I recently did an upgrade to V18 and now I am stuck in the activation. Can someone assist me?
I have allowed port 5001 and also activate.3cx.com on the firewall but still not getting there.

5001 is an inbound port. When you say you allowed activate.3cx.com, that's for the outbound direction? Can you just allow from your 3CX server IP to "any"? I believe it's HTTPS but you can allow all ports outbound. activate.3cx.com has multiple IPs, and I wouldn't be surprised if they change occasionally.

Hi Steve,
I did allow on inbound 5001, 443 and allow Any on my 3CX server but it still gave the same error.

Put 8.8.8.8 as DNS for the 3cx and allow any outgoing on the firewall. Inbound you need to put the right ports like in the manual.

Please ensure that you have set as primary DNS 8.8.8.8 and you are able to nslookup and resolve activate.3cx.com
I would also suggest to clear the DNS cache from the PBX server machine.

Also - make sure that your firewall is not performing any country blocking. I had country blocking enabled on my firewall and I experienced this same error... After country-blocking was temporarily lifted/disabled, I was able to reach the intended URL...

dear all we face the same issue with activation 3CX we are able to ping activation.3cx.com but the license key show the error :

3CX failed to establish a TCP connection to activate.3cx.com.
Ensure that the local or border firewalls are configured to allow outbound traffic to activate.3cx.com

we remove the 3CX completely and with same error not way to activate the licence too

also we disable the windows firewall and not solving the issue

so if there is someone who can help us

Regards,

Hi facing the same issue here, however I can’t update to 18.5 because the 4SC standard license says expired wasn’t 4SC Std not going to expire?

It says it's expired because it cannot connect to the activation servers. You'll need to backup/reinstall/restore to get the latest version.

Also, Std 4SC will expire in June. That's all we know for now.

So even if I pay for the renewal will be stuck to do a restore so any clients running 18.2 need to upgrade to 18.5 or higher to avoid the need todo a restore?

Yes. This was announced back in Sept. that all systems needed to be on U5 as of Dec. 1st. Due to a change (renewal) in their SSL certificates on the server side.

Got it, thanks. I got confused with the need to drop v16 and go to v18 didn’t realize there was another jump needed. Thank you

Hi all, we are on update 5, V18, windows server, all firewall communications allowed, however still receiving
3CX failed to establish a TCP connection to activate.3cx.com.
Ensure that the local or border firewalls are configured to allow outbound traffic to activate.3cx.com

Reinstalled, V18, u5, restored backup, same issue, any suggestions ?

Ignore this please, the issue was resolved by using a different internet outbound link.
