3cx on prem to 3cx hosted partner to partner migration/Tranfer

Hi everyone,


We're planning to migrate an on-premise 3CX system (currently under a different 3CX partner) to a 3CX Hosted instance under our own partner account.


A few questions:

1. Is there any way to transfer the existing license key from the old partner to our partner account?
2. Or do we need to provision a new hosted instance with a new license key and FQDN, then restore the backup from the on-prem system?
3. I understand the FQDN is tied to the license key—if we restore a backup from the on-prem system, which includes the old FQDN and key, what will happen during the restore process?

Appreciate any guidance or best practices for this kind of migration.

Link the license to your partner ID, then use the System > License page to change the email registered for the license to your partner account email.

Then simply go to the portal, and follow the "Switch to Hosted" button. Make sure to upgrade your license to add 3CX Hosting beforehand.

Any steps for removing the current partner ID and adding our Partner ID on prem server portal? as i tried this on my test system it says " Your key will no longer be associated with this Partner. To proceed press Unlink. "

As there will be no company how i can switch to hosted? or do i need to create an instance first with a new key?

Just unlink the current partner and link your ID...

Not sure why you make it so complicated lol it's a very simple process.

Sorry if this sounds dumb, but I’m still a bit confused


If I unlink the current partner, does that remove the license key too? Or am I just unlinking the partner without affecting the key itself?


Also, once it’s unlinked—how will the key show up in our Partner Portal? Will it appear automatically, or do I need to manually link it to our Partner ID by creating a new instance?

Unlinking the partner will not affect the key itself or anything else within the system.

Once it’s unlinked, you need to manually link it to your Partner ID.

Once you link your partner ID to a system subscription, it should automatically appear in your 3CX partner account considering that system is running version that activates.

Hi mate,


All you need to do is unlink the current partner and then link your ID in the 3CX console. Once you do that, it will appear under your partner account. After it shows up there, you can move it to “Hosted by 3CX.” It was very straightforward.
