Good morning,

We currently have a 3CX free version and would like to upgrade. However, we have been unable to configure the SIP provide dby our telco (Safaricom). IS there a possible guide to handle the integration with Safaricom?

The free SMB pbx can only use supported providers. You need an dedicated pbx to configure not supported providers.

Thank you for the response.

Our plan is to upgrade once we have confirmed that our assigned SIP trunk lines are configured into the current version. Would you recommend we upgrade or is there an alternative?

Your provider cant be configured into the free smb version. You could ask your partner to give a test deployment where you can try to configure your provider.

Thank you. I will reach out to the provider.

Your provider wont help you there, the best way is to reach out to an 3cx partner in your area to help you.

As a footnote,

in theory - another way to deal with this problem, would be to consider changing SIP Trunk provider. Simplest way to validate this as a good path forward might be (a) Find a supported SIP Trunk provider who has both DIDs in your desired region geographically, and also is in the list of 3cx-approved-supported-on-free-3cx-hosted-instance; (b) spin up a TEST DID in the new provider first just to kick the wheels, make sure it works smoothly. The cost is ~trivial to do this for a 1-month / temporary test DID trial. (c) assuming your test is success, then migrate / PORT your DID from old>new SIP DID provider vendor, and then you may carry on using your DID with the free 3cx instance.

clearly this has a bit of work involved but it is not 'hard' just some extra steps etc.

This is not an easy task in all areas of the world.

Hi, agreed for sure. But it might be an option in theory(?). Hence briefly mentioning.

I just had a look out of curiosity, and for sure I can see VoipMS just as one example has sparse coverage in Africa (ie, I googled to see where Safaricom are based and tried to go in that general direction. Closest I think I could find was Nigeria based DIDs which is not exactly a good fit. Possibly there are other SIP/DID providers who have options. Or maybe not. (I simply don't know.) If not - then getting a bigger 3cx instance (FreeTrial time limited demo instance maybe?) configured by a partner / which is linked to Safaricom or other 'not standard supported in 3cx SIP Trunk / custom XML profile / custom config - might be a way forward.

Anyhooo. Hopefully a solution can be found.

Tim
