On a Windows machine like my freshly reloaded windows 10 on build 21h1, if I open 3cx windows client and select OK to update to the new client it appears to download the file but never installs the new version(which most of our techs don't care for it anyway) I have many clients with many extension to update. Is there an issue with the auto-update feature of the windows clients?

No, I don't want to tell the clients to use the link from a welcome email or download it from the WebClient. The app should simply update itself as in the past.

Thanks
Clint

Hi @Clint Reed,

Can we just clarify we're actually talking about the Windows Client or do you mean the new Desktop App?

it appears to download the file but never installs
What version is running now? You can check this from Windows Add / Remove programs.

The new desktop app I guess, installs on Windows PC, looks like the WebClient extension.
The current version on my PC is 16.3.0.261 of the 3cx client for windows.

Hi @Clint Reed,

To clarify:

The new Desktop App should look like this:

And the version mentioned here:
The current version on my PC is 16.3.0.261 of the 3cx client for windows.
Would be for the 3CX Windows Client which looks like this:

Which one are you referring to?

The 2nd screenshot is the one currently installed, when you open it prompts you to update as the server is on ver 18. You click OK and it appears to download a file and run an update without user input. The progress bar runs across the popup screen it goes away. If you check the new Desktop app does not appear to be installed.

Thanks
Clint

Hi Clint,

So the 'old' Windows Client is installed here:
%programdata%\3CXPhone for Windows\PhoneApp\

What the upgrade process does is download a ZIP file, close the app, unzip it into the folder mentioned above, then restart the app.

By the time the Windows client update is being triggered, it's shutting down, then restarting, this tells me that probably the "unzip" process into this file is failing.
Do you happen to be running on AV software on this PC? If yes, could you please uninstall it as a test, then try again (simply disabling it sometimes doesn't do the trick...).

Also try one more thing, if you right-click on %programdata%\3CXPhone for Windows\PhoneApp\3CXWin8Phone.exe and go to Properties --> Details, what Product Version do you see written?
