3CX WebMeeting Roadmap

We've had a couple schools that said they can't use 3CX WebMeeting because it doesn't offer Breakout Rooms/Waiting Room functionality (like Zoom). Any plans to implement this functionality in the future?

We don't plan on implementing this concept into WebMeeting.

Dear Nick Galea and team, this is an amazing development.

My only Question and feature request is will the solution have an API or SDK to allow integration with other apps to allow meeting Invites and Calendar auto connect at the specific times. This is a large enterprise feature requirement in Enterprises in most countries...

Audio not working when sharing a video through web browser or player. All other web conference service like zoom, gotomeeting, webex has option to optimize video and audio playing through meeting and working good. is there any plan to implement such things.
Option share the screen from mobile device.
Password for joining the meeting.
kick of and block a user from rejoining the meeting
option to connect Web conferencing hardware devices

How much bandwidth required for a 20 party video conference.20 Mbps or just 4 or 5 Mbps.
How it will be optimize if it is not controlled by server and all stream directly going to a web client (p2p)

Audio when screen sharing is something we eventually plan to add. It's not in our immediate priorities.

Option share the screen from mobile device.

No immediate plans to do this. Maybe in the future.

Password for joining the meeting.

No immediate plans to do this. We'll consider it later on.

kick of and block a user from rejoining the meeting

Kick exists. Ban will make it into WebMeeting later.

~2.5Mbps Download
~64Kbps - 4Mbps Upload

Peer to Peer will never be something we will do for the simple reason that it's not an optimization, but the exact opposite. You can find more on the cons/pros of P2P vs MCU online.

Thanks for the reply

My last question related to P2P vs MCU was based on this thread https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/3cx-webmeeting-roadmap.72718/#post-327060

if it is like SIP and media stream is P2P, then how it is optimized on server ? it will be many to one and one to many communication right. if it is optimized on server how much bandwidth required on server for a 25 party video conference.

one more doubt 3CX web conference(WRTC) using VP9 or AV1 codec?

Here is how an MCU works: https://trueconf.com/blog/wiki/multipoint-control-unit
Very little bandwidth is required in order to be in a 25 man video conference with 3CX as the more users are connected, the less bandwidth is used. This is thanks to our server side optimizations.

To answer your question about how much bandwidth each user would need in a 25 party video conference, the answer is:

  • Upload: 0.06Mbps - 0.12Mbps
  • Download: 1.5Mbps - 3.0Mbps
These numbers are bound to change a bit up or down as we add more optimizations to our backend and depending on how we tune our platform.

one more doubt 3CX web conference(WRTC) using VP9 or AV1 codec?

3CX uses VP8 and will continue to use it until something better shows up.
  • VP8, uses a normal amount of CPU, mature, widespread encode/decode support.
  • VP9, uses 30-50% more CPU than VP8, somewhat mature, little encode/decode support.
  • AV1 = Unknown CPU usage, not great for real time video, not mature, unknown encode/decode support.
Some codecs are good for live video streaming and others are better suited for content streaming. New codec does not equal better codec when you take the above in consideration.

Some companies out there are making example WebRTC solutions with VP9 and AV1 and use these as selling points. Perhaps they are unaware of their limitations and repercussions on end users.

Hi Leonidas Click2Meet requests sent to Queues currently message all extensions defined to the Queue regardless of status and of the Queue routing options. And once a user accepts the webmeeting they're still considered available for calls. Is there a plan to have these requests Queue like calls and present to available agents as per the Queue routing configuration? and to mark agents on webmeetings busy so they're not passed calls?

This would make the click2meet significantly more viable for out contact centre.

Do you have ETA for the recurrent webmeeting fonction is coming, I have some client waiting for this
Thx

Dear Nick Galea, is there any progress on the Local MCU server ?.
We are waiting for this function with open arms!!

@Nick Galea is there any further update to the time frame for the on-premise MCU?

No, but its something that should be done this year we assume.....

Hello,

We have a lot of trouble when sending web meeting invitations to external customers because of the sender address: noreply-3cx@...
Can the organisator use his own address?

This should have high priority in the roadmap because in a business environment, many customers think that this is a spam message or the message will automatically be stored in the junk folder.

@Ronin if you use your own SMTP server in the Mail configuration, then you can.

If you send the email from your installed email client (default option) then it will use the companies own email address......

@barryhunt and @LeonidasG we have solicitors asking for breakout rooms for mediation. They need to be able to talk to their client in private and then go back to their main meeting. I'd make a feature request if I had the access rights on the forum.

@telis , I see very little hope that we will add this feature to take a user private from an "open" room.

That been said, you can use the extension's setting to create for each visitor a private room.
If the URL is handed out, each user joining this link will notify the moderator (extension) about a new "private" room visoitor. In the lobby you then give this URl to the visitors.

@StefanW nice idea. I have had success by running multiple simultaneous meetings with different (but over lapping) attendees in different tabs. I could use it like this but I'm not sure the lawyers will have the chops, the wrong party hearing something could have major repercussions. Teams doesn't have breakout rooms but apparently they are coming, Zoom seems to be unusual in having them.

Any update on this roadmap? Some features where for Q2 so I guess they are delayed for Q3 of Q4?

Also, can we still expect RCS/Facebook/maybe SMS on Update 7?

@LeonidasG @Nick Galea
