Hello..

We upgraded our on-prem 3CX software from V16 to V18 over the weekend. We currently use a GPO to block our users from making Windows firewall changes, however after the upgrade we receive the errors below. I cant find any documentation on what to configure on a GPO level to allow the 3CX app and what impact does it have if i leave as is, as the system appears to be OK.
I alos assume that one has to manually remove the previous 3cx windows version after installing the new version?

Hi!

That is correct, the old App is considered a different app and need to be manually uninstalled.

We have a guide about how to deploy the new Desktop App on Terminal Server:
https://www.3cx.com/docs/desktop-app-windows-terminal-server/

There is also another forum user that has posted some instructions about adding Firewall Rules, but we cannot say if they are accurate or not though:

Thanks Nick..

We are not on a Terminal Server environment, so not really applicable to our organisation.

I followed your suggested post regarding the firewall rules; however if I install via this method, and i choose a specific installation folder c:\program files\3cxDesktopApp, it still installs into 2 seperate locations ie %appdata%/Roaming/3cxDesktopApp & c:\program files\3cxDesktopApp
Not sure what impact this would have and if the installation needs to be installed into the %appdata% folder?

Also i see this has made no change to the Windows firewall rules, so how do i allow access to the 3cxDesktopApp for Domain, Private, Public?

I linked to the other post for the Windows Firewall comment, not for the installation in a different location. Installing this way *may* cause an small issue when upgrading, so I wouldn't recommend it.

I think this would be best to maybe ask on an MS forum on how to create Windows Firewall rules for specific apps.
