We have gotten everything setup and working without many issues but one thing I failed to consider is the size of the recordings. I now know I will need to add a USB hard drive to the server to store the recordings. I have it mounted and can see it with the fdisk -l command. I haven't made any permission changes yet to that drive and I wasn't sure if there was specific instructions to get the current recordings moved over to the drive as well as all future recordings and backups being stored there as well. In short I would only want the phone system to use the local storage and all recordings/voicemails and backups would go to the external USB drive. Thanks for the help.

Hello @Joe Summerlin

The system is able to store recordings and backups to a different local disk however voicemails cannot be moved.
I would recommend however adding a second hard drive to the system and not using a USB drive especially or recordings. If you have multiple calls running then the USB speed might not be enough. You do not want to depend on a USB drive to handle the system recordings.

Well that's not what I was hoping to hear. If that's the case I might have to go an entire different direction so I can add more local disk capacity since I just have 3CX running on a small server with RAID1 setup and no room to add more local disks. One question that isn't completely related to the same subject but might be needed is moving from a Linux platform to a Windows platform so I can manage the storage better. Could I create a full backup from Linux and restore to a Windows machine? I see documentation on going from Windows to Linux but not the other direction from Linux to Windows. Thanks again for the help.

Yes , you can go from Linux to Windows and the other way round.

Just backup you current config without licence and FQDN information, and use this backup file when installing the new installation

Just make sure that only one instance of the PBX is running so you avoid any issues with the licence activation.
