Hello All!

As an admin, I am trying to install/uninstall softwares on my clients computer. I am able to setup a conference, give them the link, have them join, and setup the remote connect so that I can see (and manage) his desktop/computer. When I go to install/uninstall a software, it prompts the user to put in admin windows credentials. Unfortunately, the user DOES NOT have these credentials, but we do. I want to be able to put in those admin credentials for the user, that way I do not give them admin rights and have them install/uninstall bad things. However, I DO NOT see the prompt where it says to put in the username and password. When the user gets that prompt, my screen freezes and I am unable to see/put in the admin windows credentials. ONLY when the user clicks cancel, I am able to control the desktop and see everything again.

So long story short, I am unable to see/put in the admin windows credentials for the user, is there a setting that needs to be changed? Or is this not possible?

Hi @MJJT Consultants,

Something you may want to ensure is that when they're prompted by the UAC dialogue box, that you are in fact looking at the primary display. If the user has multiple displays, make sure you're looking at the correct one. I've had no problem entering in username and password in my testing.

Hello,

Thank you for your response. I have tried this and still the same result. When they get prompted with the windows admin credentials, my screen freezes, and ONLY WHEN they click cancel I am able to click around again.

I have had instances where its just one screen (laptop) and when they get prompted the windows admin credentials my screen freezes.

Is the UAC dialogue box supposed to show up when I request the remote connection?

What should i check in the UAC dialogue box?

Hi @MJJT Consultants,

It appears that your local group policy may be a culprit here. The account seems to be more limited requiring the input of the local administrator. In this case it is expected behaviour. I'd review the group policy to see if you can relax the restrictions a bit.

Hello,

Yes, we set the local group policy of the users to not have the admin credentials. We want to limit the softwares/installs they are doing so that they do not cause unexpected issues.

The group policy should not matter. If the users gets prompted the admin credentials, we should see it too since we are remoted in with the client. Is there a suggestion you had in mind to set the group policy so that it can see the prompt?

Or maybe something in the 3CX configurations allows the remoted user to see that prompt?

you are fighting the secure desktop. this is by design - unless your remote control software is running as admin, all admin windows are not visable to it.

Either disable secure desktop (not a good idea security wise) or launch 3cx remote control as admin (also not an easy thing to do or even really secure).

Better idea is to look into elevation software, like auto-elevate or runasadmin or similar.
