I am seeing a couple errors trying to set up my Android 3CX client. I had this working previously, but recently deleted and reinstalled my 3CX server (recommended when changing server IP address).

  • When I scan the QR code from the welcome email, I am greeted with the error "PBX FQDN cannot be resolved."
  • When I try to load the config file from the email directly on the phone, it appears to import the extension settings just fine but the app shows "Disconnected, waiting for network" on the dial screen.
  • The phone and 3CX server are on separate subnets, but they are both on the local network.
  • I am able to ping the server from the phone.
  • I have a Windows client on the same wireless network, using the same registration info/welcome email, that can register and place calls with no issue.
  • Navigating to Menu > Settings > Accounts > account shows correct local IP address of server under "Local PBX IP"
  • Deleting the app and reinstalling does not fix the issue.
  • The 'Phones' menu in 3CX admin console shows the correct IP address for all Windows clients on my network, but shows 127.0.0.1 for the 3CX Android client
  • Firewall test runs clean in 3CX admin console

I have a similar issue with all of my android clients running android 6.0.1 3.030AT.03.a
This started after the last android client update. All of my phones on android 5.1.1 1218_2217 still work.

I believe I have the same problem. My HTC U11 running android 8.0.0 using 3CX client 15.5.346.651 won’t connect over Wi-Fi this stopped working some weeks ago but I’ve been ignoring it in the hope either a 3CX or android update would fix the problem.
  • My Wi-Fi is a different subnet 10.0.6.x my 3CX server is on 10.0.0.x
  • I don’t allow external connections to 3CX so there are no firewall rules to allow this, we only allow the clients to connect when connected to the Wi-Fi, i.e. they are on site.
  • I have various iPhones using 3CX client 15.5.18.472 that are all working fine.
  • One users Galaxy S7 edge running android 8.0.0 using 3CX client 15.5.346.651 works fine.
  • One users WileyFox Spark running android 7.0.0 using 3CX client 15.5.346.651 works fine.
  • An identical HTC U11 won’t connect anymore either.
  • If I turn Wi-Fi off and connect to the LAN using the built in android VPN client over 4G (gives me a 10.0.40.x IP address), this then connects fine.
  • I used a packet sniffer on my firewall and observed that when connected to Wi-Fi my phone is trying to connect to the external IP address of my 3CX server (which the firewall doesn’t allow). I experimented by configuring both the internal IP and external IP in the phone configuration to point to the internal IP of my 3CX server. This immediately comes up with ‘On Hook’ top right and after 10 seconds of ‘waiting for network’ it connects and works fine.
