Hi 3CX Community,

We are looking to archive our 3CX chat logs but have a few concerns regarding their accessibility. Specifically:

  1. Will the archived 3CX chat logs remain visible within 3CX, and will we be able to retrieve them whenever necessary?
  2. The archived folder currently shows the chats as encrypted. Does this affect our ability to access them in the future?
  3. If we ever need to reinstall the 3CX instance, will the archived chats still be accessible, or will they be lost?

Any guidance or insights on how to properly manage chat archives and ensure their accessibility in the future would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi,

A) Are you referring to archive to external storage:

or
B) Archiving a conversation in the Chat area:

The point of the Remote Archive is to store this items outside the PBX for space saving and safe keeping. The PBX is aware of the archive location and can access them from there.

2. The archived folder currently shows the chats as encrypted. Does this affect our ability to access them in the future?

As long as the PBX doesn't get wiped without a backup, access should be possible.

3. If we ever need to reinstall the 3CX instance, will the archived chats still be accessible, or will they be lost?

If you restore from a backup, they should come back just as if they were on the PBX itself.

Thank you for your prompt response and clarification.

Could you please guide on how to download a 50 GB chat in one go before it is moved to remote archive? We’d like to keep a local copy of chat in case any issues arise.

Just take a backup.
