AudioCodes Mediant 1000 Gateway

We have a 3Com V6100 which is bascily a relabled AudioCodes Mediant 1000. Looking to test the 3CX as a possible replacement to our 3com VCX. Will this work as a gateway? I've seen some questions on the AudioCodes Mediant 1000 but not alot of info on adding it as a gateway.

Have have successfully configured an Audiocodes MP-112 FXS gateway to 3CX before and it was pretty simple, but not any of the Mediant 1000 devices.

My thoughts are it would work however it would be a manual setup - what variant are you using ? FXS/FXO or ISDN BRI/PRI, I am assuming obviously that it is a VoIP gateway as this is what you have stated and not SBC.

With that being said you should if not purchased already always use a fully supported device.

It is our gateways for 2 PRIs. We actually have 2. Each has 1 Digital card (for PRIs), CPU (I guess for management), 3 FSX cards and 1 FXO card. Additionally we also have an Ingate SIParator that has 10 SIP paths with Fusion.

Which parts of the device are you using in that case ? FXS/FXO or ISDN or all ?
As you can probably see from 3CX there are 2 sections for Gateways in the PBX:

FXS = FXS/DECT

FXO & ISDN = SIP Trunks.

NOTE: when configuring for FXS you will just have to do the old school method and create extensions (so ignore the above area) for FXO & ISDN you can create a Generic Gateway.

So in all truth I know just enough about VOIP to be dangerous. With the 3Com VCX (Current PBX) as I understand it Mediants are trusted gateways and they convert the PRIs to SIP for the 3Com. We log into the Mediant and assign registered extensions to a FXS port for outgoing faxes. We are a mid size company with between 200 and 300 phones so a large expense will be replacing handsets. I'm just trying to see if we can reuse exciting equipment. Really we have gone away from most of the FXS ports and have gone to cisco spa112 as just registered extensions at the fax machines so their is a possibility of going to a different gateway for the PRIs.

OK so with 3CX Audiocodes are not a "supported" brand so you will need to configure everything manually. With that being said it should not be too difficult to achieve this.

The FXS side of things I setup as per this video from VoIP Supply:

That should get you registered and the ability to make local calls, you aren't setting this gateway up remotely across an SBC or anything I hope ?

For the ISDN side I would follow this guide, selecting "Generic" as your gateway:

This is for a supported Patton PRI model. It will generate a config file for you however I am not sure how useful this will be on an Audiocodes so you may want to manually configure that side of things.

This is fun so far. We got a YeaLink T48s to test with. I am able to make outbound calls through the AudioCodes (PRIs). I even setup PBX to PBX, extension to extension calls (3CX to 3Com vcx). Just set a rule when dialing 2* to remove the 2 and sends calls to the 3Com. I did the same with 3Com to stripe 2 and send to 3CX. Guess I'm missing something because those calls don't work. 3CX to 3Com working. 3Com to 3CX not.

That would be a 3Com question I think but run verbose logging on 3CX and see first if calls are reaching the PBX and in what format.

Are you bridging the Pbx's or connecting them both to the gateway on separate interfaces or something like that?
