AX83H Short Battery Life on 3CX

Hi there,

I worked with Yealink support to look into why the battery runtime on this would never exceed ~12 hours idle time. They claimed it is an issue with implementation and that it is up to the 3CX team to remedy this and have let them know. Does anyone know if this is on the roadmap for this phone?

Running Firmware 180.87.0.11 above 3CX supported FW 180.87.0.6 provided by Yealink for testing

After analysis, we concluded that the reason for the short battery life of AX83H is that AX83H is connected to 3CX's SBC, and SBC does not support AX83H sleep, which means that AX83H is always active, so the phone's battery life is short. However, since the 3CX SBC tunnel protocol is 3CX's code, Yealink cannot change it, so it is currently impossible to optimize this problem. However, we have communicated with the 3CX support team and hope to work with them to modify the code so that SBC can support AX83H sleep and meet users' daily office needs.

Hey Brailyn, did you ever get any further with this one? Bit disappointing being promised 200 hours of standby time and only ending up with 9-12
 
No sir. I would be curious if 3CX has any updates; however, I do not know how to get them to chime in here...
 
Still seeing this in my web console for the AX83H: 180.87.0.11 (180.87.0.6 is available)

so no updates pushed

Using the phone in router mode while very handy, does have a trade off when it comes to battery life.

The SBC does more than just listen for new calls so this is not something that can be changed. I am not currently aware about Yealink contacting 3CX. The phone was certified by Yealink for 3CX with the router option, meaning they were aware of any trade offs. I do not foresee this changing in the near future.

Possible solutions

1. You can install a local SBC at the place where the phone is used, and bypass the additional battery load to compare the standby time and see if this works better for your needs.

2. Yealink also has the AX86R which is essentially a more ruggedized version of the one you use now, and also has a larger battery (about 50% more capacity) and should in theory at least last a bit longer between charges.

3. DECT might be a better overall solution, depending on your own needs and whether you can deploy it in that particular location.

We understand that while WiFi phones are less reliable overall due to interference, roaming, unstable latency and more power hungry, some customers still have to use them because they might not be able to deploy alternatives.
