Is 3cx ever going to get integrated sms? I don't mean this round-about hokey pokey mess it already has where we incorporate a 3rd party and use a different # for texting than we do for calling.

It's a hard sell to these 100% cloud based companies that do most of their sales business via text when they can go to just about any other voip provider who says "Yes we can give you a DID, and your calls and texts come through that same DID"

Also they don't like the idea of paying a siptrunk provider and a sms provider when they can consolidate it into a single bill with other voip providers than us.

Hi!

While I can't say for sure what's going to happen, the answer is "probably not", or at least certainly not in the immediate future.

The way our implementation works requires that we check how each SMS Provider works, the implement it so that it will appear on your 3CX.
Redesigning this to be 100% driven from your 3CX installation would require a huge undertaken, especially considering we would have to also "move" existing deployments to this.

As far as I am aware of course, you can have the same DID with 1 provider for Calls, and the same DID with another Provider for SMS, at least in the US.

Use a provider that supports both like Telnyx or Twilio and the problem is fixed. That's it.

If they did billing the same way siptrunk.com did, I would give them a try but last time I approached Telnyx they said we had to handle the taxes and all that mess. We prefer siptrunks way of handling it because it takes that tax burden off us. We aren't quite large enough to deal with that stuff just yet. Getting there slowly. We'll talk to Twilio today and see if they can handle it the same as siptrunk does.

Yes talk to Twilio (I live in Canada so taxes are not a mess here.)

Otherwise, maybe @Skyetel will get support for SMS and they have not only a taxes thing but even a tenant portal for your customers. BTW Skyetel, I was referred to you by a friend of mine who sent an email with me in CC. Never got a reply...

Called Twilio and none of their sales reps pick up the phone. Filled out their sales contact form. I think this is actually the 3rd time I've been through this process with Twilio. I don't think anyone actually works there. Must be a shell corporation for some crypto currency billionare/millionare. :))

Just Configured Telnyx SMS number in 5-mins working perfectly.

Now adding the same number for SIP Trunk Voice calls.

So got twilio sms + siptrunk to work but it took since Nov 30th to find out today they don't let MSPs sell their services like siptrunk does. -_- So can't even use them. Sucks. Siptrunk couldn't get sms working fast enough at this point. Lost out on about 8 deals so far because of this.

We use Telnyx, for this reason amongs others.

Unfortunately to my knowledge Telynx doesn't do billing the same as siptrunk either. The way our billing works is we setup customer accounts under our master account and tie a customers cc info into their account. We set how many minutes/lines/whatever they want, and siptrunk bills the client directly and pays it via the cc kept on file in their sub account. We get a % of whatever we sell.

The way I understood Telnyx (as well as most other providers) is they just sell you a block of minutes and numbers and bill you the provider directly, and you as the provider are left with the responsibility of handling the billing and taxes.

If I am wrong and Telnyx does do billing similar to Siptrunk, I would love a contact I can call at Telnyx to talk to.

Thanks!

Yeah no they don't do that.

Can I recommend you use Flowroute?
-Supported both sip and sms
-Can make accounts for each user with their CC
-Can become an agent and get a %

Wow thanks for that!! They were a breath of fresh air! Am definitely switching to them. Awesome better GUI. Hopefully better support (which siptrunks support isn't exactly bad but not perfect), and half the price, and sells it the same as siptrunk and offers working sms/mms with 3cx.

I've been using Flowroute for ~10 years now. Their support is top notch, my account manager is great, and they have a really good system/service.

More expensive then some other options but... you get what you pay for.
