Hi all,

Apologies if this question has been answered already but I can't find it being answered in the forum.

We have two V18 3CX instances connected via a bridge and we're planning an upgrade to V20 for both of them. We would like to space these two server upgrades out over a week, so we'll have one server running V20 and another running V18 for about 7 days.

After upgrading the first server, does anyone know if the two servers will still be able to communicate over the bridge albeit being different versions?

Cheers all,
Pete

One would certainly hope that the two versions Bridging would remain compatible as most people would not be upgrading bridged PBXs at exactly the same time. If it didn't work, you'd be under a great deal of pressure to rush and complete the other connected PBXs. There is not a lot, about others experience, with that issue, on the forum. Perhaps someone from 3CX can provide a definitive answer.

Ideally both need to be v20, it'll half work.

v20 is publishing presence which v18 can see. But, v20 shows the bridge as offline which I guess wouldnt receive any information.

However, v18 can call v20 over the bridge which is ideal for us as this is how we want it..

v20 can see presence of v18 users but calls cannot be made.

The official stand of the company is that both machines need to be on the same version AND the same update number.

This is the only supported scenario as far as we are concerned.

Now, sometimes there may be updates which will work between them, but what happens in an update where the tunnel or the bridge cofiguration is tweaked?

We cannot guarantee that a bridge between 2 versions or 2 different updates will work.
