Browser Support of Chrome?

Are there plans for full support of the Chrome browser for System Administration ? Many features work just fine, but a notable exception is the grid management in items like Extension Forwarding.

Why would they care if Chrome worked?

Maybe it should be the other way around, Chrome needs to be made to work with 3CX ? If Internet Explorer and Firefox work then that would seem to indicate the Chrome may need a little more work. Don't forget that Chrome is a product of Google just like IE is a product of Microsoft. They have been developed to firstly serve their parent companies requirements. Firefox has come a long way in it's ability to handle web pages that previously required you use IE . Chrome may still be going through a "teething" period that future updates will correct.

Most, if not all, devices/products that require the use of a browser to change settings/access the products web page, will state exactly which browser/version you have to use.

Why would they care if Chrome worked?

Because the user portal is accessed by (potentially) every 3CX endpoint user, not just system administrators. Its easy to control the browser of choice for the System Admin of a few thousand licensed installations. It is much harder to control the browser of choice for the tens of thousands of end-users (portal) attached to those licensed installations.

Where do you draw the line? Opera? Safari? IE4? IE5? IE6? IE7? Konqueror? You cannot make a system that is going to be 100% on every possible browser platform available. If access to a phone system requires a particular browser, than the system administrator needs to take that into consideration when considering supporting that phone system. In most corporate environments, people are using IE or Firefox, very very few corporations have rolled out Chrome as a default browser.

I know one major communications firm that has McAffe anti-virus set to remove any copy of Chrome found on a users company owned PC.

For the longest time, those of us that used Netscape, and now Firefox, almost exclusively, had to put up with "non functioning" sites written specifically for IE. But it is changing.

Chrome is currently the New Kid on the Block, so to expect anyone to devote resources into this idea is a bit off track. The system is currently functional on the 2 biggest platforms out there, and it isn't like almost every Chrome user doesn't already have access to IE and Firefox.

It would be one think of there was a large segment of people forced into Chrome use. But at this time it is a choice, and the other two options are already available.

I guess if it were that important that it work, and it were me, I would identify what code that the Chrome browser "didn't like" and then ask Google why Chrome doesn't handle the code the same way that Firefox and IE do. I'm sure that there must be a forum to deal with chrome/web site issues similar to this and you could present this particular scenario and see if someone comes up with a solution.
