I noticed there are a ton of fields in the bulk upload template. Does anyone have any best practice for minimal required fields that should be filled out to import 400 users/extensions?

Any opinions will appreciated!

Please be advised that the 3CX startup version does not allow importing that amount of extensions.

You have a range of 10 extensions provided to you when you first deeply the instance, which you can add during the deployment stage or through the admin's console, or import via CSV.

In any case, this guide provides the details of the fields: https://www.3cx.com/docs/bulk-extension-import/

Configure 1 extension in the UI and export. While I'm sure some fields aren't needed, you'll get a good idea of the ones that are.

Note - I assume you have selected the wrong forum, as Startup only works for 10 users.

You are right, I did post in wrong category. My apologies.
I do have one last question if someone wouldn't mind answering that would be great!
In the bulk upload template there is a random Auth ID and password as well as deskphone password. Are those created when the user is created? Or do I need to make up that username and password for all the users and deskphones? When I look at the link that was posted it says that is a required field?

make it up (set them all the same if you want and then do a regenerate after importing).

I appreciate everyones input with this. One last question, if I did a bulk import and then added more to the spreadsheet and did another import with same spreadsheet would it merge the added info into the 3cX and disregard everything else? Meaning can I reimport the same spreadsheet with added information multiple times? Also would it change any variables that I modified that were previously imported?

Regarding this, the answer is that you will not be able to re-import the CSV to a system with the same extensions created. You can only import a CSV where the extensions do not already exist.

Ok thanks, that's what I needed to know. So make sure the import contains everything needed and is done right the first time as that is the only chance you get. :)

Yes and no, so if you already created the extensions through an import and need to bulk change something unavailable by selecting and editing multiple extensions, then you can re-import through CSV by first deleting the ones already created to re-import them.

Great, so in the case of re-upload and I delete the user would there be any effect to that user after re-import ie voice mail deleted, phone needing re-initialization etc? Also, are there any ways to bulk edit DIDs etc?

Yes, if you delete the user it would delete their mailbox (so all saved voicemails, greetings, forwarding rules, etc). Phones - should be unaffected as long as the credentials stayed the same/option66 is in use and mac address and model are matched up, etc.

You can bulk import and modify DIDs with the inbound rules page. You do not need to add the DID to the SIP trunk beforehand - it will add it automatically.

Few more questions - with the DID import would the name of the rule be the actual full 10 digit DID number? With re: to port what would that value relate to?
Also, is there a place to set up paid support at 3CX?

Thanks again!

make one inbound rule in the UI and export.

The name is an arbitrary text value.
The port is the ID of the SIP trunk. First one is usually 10000, second is 10001, etc

Paid support - login to your portal, you can buy tickets at $75 ea.
