Our provider pushes out our main phone number: XXX-XXX-XXXX.
Recently calls made from here are showing up as a name: Mary Poppins (fictional of course).
This is only happening to my knowledge with people who have Comcast as a provider.

Has anyone seen this type of behavior?

There are three places where you can set your caller ID number: (1) at your SIP trunk carrier, (2) on your SIP trunk within 3CX, and (3) on each extension. Be sure to check these three places. If you place two phone calls from the same 3CX extension -- one call to a Comcast phone number and one to a non-Comcast phone number, and different caller ID names/numbers are displayed... that's really messed up and there is nothing you can do about it, other than call your SIP carrier and have them chase it down.

Now-a-days number CID databases are generally contracted out. It takes a lot to maintain the names across all providers, so it's easier to pay someone else, and simply use the service. It would appear that whoever Comcast uses, has a name, in their database, that matches your number, so that is what is sent to Comcast customers. If you are allowed to send a name, (many times it will just be ignored), depending on your provider, it may override the database name. That doesn't appear to be the case.

If the name is incorrect, you may want to let Comcast know, so they can pass that on to their CID database provider.

But the question is about Caller ID Name... and if in the US - not something he can control locally.
