Hi

i have 3cx running latest version, with 2 trunks. Trunk 1 is for in/out bound calls, Trunk 2 goes to an SBC and old Avaya CS1K.
we are migrating users across from the CS1k hence the setup

The extensions are setup with outbound caller-id full e164 format, the caller-id is fine on outbound calls over trunk 1, however i am trying to send just the ext number as callerid when the dial over trunk 2 ( 4 digits) . i have tried changing the from user part on the outbound parameters but no joy, the users on the cs1k just see the full e164 number instead of the 4 digit extn.

Any ideas

Thanks

How is trunk 2 set-up in 3CX...Generic trunk, Bridge trunk? In most cases, when connecting to another PBX (not a class 5 type switch/PSTN network) , people will use a Bridge trunk. Caller ID will behave differently over a Bridge, and not always the way people want, depending on the call routing path.

Hi, its setup as a Generic IP trunk. did'nt try Bridge trunk

Bridge trunk is more likely to send just the extension number, although, as i say, caller ID over Bridge trunks can yield mixed results.. You could leave current trunk in place and create a parallel Bridge trunk, connect that as a test, and see what happens. I assume that the current trunk is registering to the far end, so...you'll probably want to create a slave Bridge trunk to do the same thing.
