Calls start out ok and echoing starts getting worse

Start out where the other end can here me OK and then starts deteriorating until they can't understand me.

I am using an external extension with ATA (HT386) calling out through my Broadvoice voip provider. At this location my firewall has QOS for the 3cx IP address.

What is that a symptom of? Where should I start looking to hunt this down?

3cx pbx on a P4 with a gig of memory. Behind a firewall at a datacenter.

External extension is a remote office with a d-link firewall and HT386 ata using our stun server (open source stun server on our pbx box)

Inbound calls ok, outbound calls ok, registers ok.

When talking to a customer today for about 20 minutes she remarked that it was getting harder and harder to understand me as the time went on because of garbleing. I heard her just fine on my end.

Short conversations I have not had people tell me this was an issue. On longer calls others have said that the quality started getting worse.

I guess the next step would be to bypass 3CX and hook up my ata to Broadvoice (my voip provider) and try making a long call to someone.

Any other suggestion? should I be playing with gain on the ata? Could this be IP traffic issue? We have a big pipe at the datacenter and cable modem at the remote office.

I am also beginning to have echoing issues as well.

My setup is very similar and I am also using BroadVoice.

The echoing problem started to appear this week. It was not a problem before.

Any change in weather pattern?

bad wiring can help echo allong.

Try to set your devices to use a prefered codec (in this case G711).
Check impedance miss-match between phone and ata.

What am I looking for in this regard?

Had a lengthy conversation where someone called me and they had no problem hearing me in the 30 minutes we spoke, but I could hear my own voice echoing in my handset. What does that symptom indicate? Could that also be an impedance problem?

One symptom of this is wierd. Once the echoing starts, if you hold on a few minutes during the echoing, it stops and everything sounds good again. Most people hang up when the echoing gets bad, but had a friend I was talking with stay on the line a few extra minutes and it cleared up.

What does that mean? ;-)
