Calls to paging group and Simultaneous Calls

I have a paging group with 38 extensions and a 32SC license.

Will this be an issue? It's kind of hard to test this in real life. (Run around and see if all the phones are working)

If you implement multi-cast paging, you will be fine. Trying to page that many extensions with a standard paging ring group would take too long to connect to all the extensions. There would likely be several seconds between when the extension is dialed and when you could actually start speaking.

As with ring groups, it counts as one call.

This site uses an SBC, so I don't think multicast is an option without an un-supported hack.

You're right, that wouldn't be possible with Multicast Paging. The 3CX PBX will send traffic to the multicast IP specified so that traffic will not got to the 3CX SBC. You would probably need a VPN connection to the remote site configured to forward multicast traffic somehow.

That said, despite some delay, I'd recommend using the Paging Group instead.

Multicast page via SBC would be great as a future feature.

Or, optionally some way to expose the multicast address provisioning field on a non-local phone (keeping a supported template) so we can put in a routable multicast address and then look after our own PIM routing to get the traffic to the location.

I understand there might be reluctance to do something like that if it opens up greater support burden (mcast settings enabled and no network infrastructure to back that up would probably cause complaints from people enabling it without understanding what they need to support it).

Otherwise I guess the only option is overhead paging if you want to keep the phones supported.

Maybe another option would be sending a single unicast stream to the SBC, and then have the SBC send a unicast to each phone.
