Hey all,

Sorry for the bad wording on the question, I am finding difficulty on how to word it. So here's the breakdown.

I am rather new to 3CX. Today I was asked to change one of our phone options that goes to dispatch to something else and then make the dispatch option something random.

Well, all 9 of our phone menu options are taken. So, what I did was put dispatch where the employee directory was and have the original dispatch go to the customer service reps who can decide whether or not to send the call to dispatch.

My conundrum is that the employee directory is absolutely needed. I had asked if I could just do away with the dispatch all together and have CSR's handle their calls. The answer was no.

My questions after this novel is; Is there a way to make the pound sign (#) an option? I do not see anything in the management console that would give me ability to add something like that, do any of you know?

You could route any of the 9 options to another Digital receptionist, for an additional 9 options, on each choice. The problem with use of the Octothorp (#) may be is that it is usually used after dialled digits to signal end-of-dial-string, whereas the asterisk (*) is usually used to invoke a feature with the digits following.

Someone else may have "other" suggestions.

I believe you can only have options 0 - 9 on IVR, and this can not be changed.

As mentioned by @leejor, you can create sub digital receptionist so pressing one key , leads you to other options.

One thing, you want to do is not to over complicate the IVR system so that the caller has to listen to one batch of options, then another, then another.

Hello @Nomanativ

Are you referring to the digital receptionists options? If so then the number of choices is fixed and you either need to add more Digital receptionists or create something with the Call Flow Designer.
If you are not referring to the Digital receptionist options then we will need some more details regarding the issue.

Hey everyone,

I appreciate the responses, this helped tremendously. I think what I will do is convince them to do away with the dispatch option all together.
