I have many cisco 79xx phones that were on a cisco system that I am replacing with a 3CX system. I have the cisco phones making internal and external calls, and a call queue that transfers a caller to an extension will successfully transfer a call to a cisco phone; but, any call to the cisco directly from another 3cx client extension, external caller or another cisco phone will fail.

The trace shows the incoming call with a proper looking invite, but the invite includes a message body, which isn't present for calls that are successful. The cisco phone then sends a "400 bad request" that includes a "399 Bad Request - 'Invalid SDP Information'" & "Unrecognised SIP header (remote-party-id)"

I know the cisco phones are EoL/EoS, but it seems that many of you still have them woirking on your systems. what have I missed?

I have tried to add the extension as linex_contact in the .cnf file as another post seemed to suggest, but that did not seems to change anything. What is most strange is being able to transfer to it but not call it directly.

What is the exact model of the 79XX phone? What firmware version is on the phones?

I recently converted a couple 7961 from SCCP to SIP and initially after converting to SIP, i was having some similar. The phones are now all running SIP8.4.2 and all the features work fine. I am using the cnf.xml configuration file that was generated by 3CX.

These are all 7940's and 7960's. Firmware is 8.12.0. I used the 3CX .cnf files, but did tweak them a bit to my liking, but all of the same components are in the files, I just split some of the items between the default.cnf that applies to all phones and the individual one that applies only to a single device. I did verify that all of the phones load the settings from both the default file and the individual file. Maybe the 8.12.0 firmware is too new.

I'm not very familiar with the 7940/7960, so i'm not very qualified to give you an answer then as I have not done any test with that model.
The 7941 and 7961 is the model that I recently converted and they use a different firmware from the 7940 and 7960, so I don't know if the 8.12.0 firmware is too new, as you hinted.

You could also try downgrading the software to an earlier version and see if that works?

No luck going backwards so far. The provisioning page says it's supported up to 8.5.4s; only there is not such version for the 7940/7960. That can only be the version for 7941/7961 phones. Am I to assume from that no one has actually tested this on the 7940/7960? Or is one to assume that we should be flashing the 7940/7960 with the firmware from the 7941/7961, if such a thing is possible?

As far as i know, it is not possible to load the firmware for the 7941/7961 onto the 7940/7960. When you factory reset the phones, they boot up and check the TFTP server for particular file. For example, the 7941/7961 checks for a term41.default or term61.default. I am almost sure the 7940/7960 does not look for the same file.

Anyone know for sure what firmware does work properly on the 7940/7960's? All the firmware for those models ends in 00, so 8.5.4s cannot be the correct one for those phones. I am only assuming that my issue has anything to do with firmware. Like I said previously, I can make calls internally and externally and I can be transferred to a cisco phone extension, but I cannot call one directly internally from another extension or externally from a linked DID.
