Hello,

I have recently installed 3CX using the 3CX Debian ISO and by following Section 1 of the admin manual,after finishing first time configuration and reaching the congratulations page, I was unable to load either of the urls listed. On chrome it says that the site can't be reached, on firefox it says that the connection has timed out.

Please help, I'm not sure where I went wrong or how to fix this.

Hi NDCPS,

Please advise:

* Whether 3CX is hosted in the cloud or on premise.
* Whether you are using a 3CX controlled FQDN and SSL certificate or hosting your own.
* If you run an nslookup of your FQDN does it resolve to the correct public IP.

Also if you are using a hosted instance you may have ACL/Security groups to configure to get access to the management console interface- port 5001 inbound from your IP address.

Hello,

Apologies for the beyond late response.

3CX is hosted on premise on the 3CX Debian distribution. We are using a 3CX controlled FQDN. Nslookup does resolve to the correct IP

Hello @NDCPS

Access the instance via SSH and check if all 3CX services are running using
Code:
service 3CX* status
If a service is not running you can try and manually start it using
Code:
service <service_name> start

Try restarting the nginx service.

- service nginx restart

@techdummy,

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't seem to do anything

@YiannisH_3CX,

I didn't use SSH, but I did check the 3CX status, and everything is active and running from what I can tell.

Thank you all for your help once again.

Have you tried connecting to the machine using the local IP address and the http port you selected? Does that work?

No I haven't and it just worked, this is literally the first time I have ever been able to connect to the management console, I am ecstatic.

Why did this work but nothing else did? Is there a way to fix it so the address created during set up will work?

The fact that you can connect using the local IP address makes me believe that your ports might be closed on your firewall so you cannot access the PBX using the FQDN. Can you access you costumer portal with the credentials supplied in the email accompanying your licence key and see if the licence key is bound to the FQDN you chose?

As the 3CX server is local , and you are trying to connect to the fqdn of the server have you setup spilt DNS - this may help (all depends on your internal DNS if you have one)
https://www.3cx.com/docs/creating-fqdn-split-dns/

What happens if you do an nslookup command for the fqdn does it return the server ip address.

On the customer portal, the key is bound to the chosen FQDN.

@Saqqara

An nslookup does return the correct ip address. I'll take a look at that document

EDIT: After looking at the document, I dont know if that will work for me, I'm not even seeing a zone profiles option on the console anywhere

I don't know if this is important or not, but I tried the built in management console firewall checker and got a few fails. 3CX SIP server failed, the testing port full cone test failed, the 3CX tunneling proxy failed, and the other testing port full cone test failed as well.

You should configure your firewall accordingly and forward the correct ports so the firewall checker passes all tests but the management console is accessed through the HTTPS port which is not checked by the firewall so it is no necessarily related to your issue.

My firewall configuration doesn't seem to be working even after messing with it and this guide (https://www.3cx.com/docs/firewall-checker/#h.ikh44hto4r56) isn't very clear to me, is there another one that I'm maybe not seeing?

EDIT: The mistake I was making is that I was opening the ports for the computer I'm making these edits on, not the computer hosting the 3CX.

Are you now able to access the management console and pass the firewall checker?

@YiannisH_3CX,

Yes I am, apologies for not confirming this previously.

Glad to see the issue has been resolved
