Cannot Update from 18.0.5.415 to 18.0.5.418

Hi all,

Apologies, not sure what troubleshooting info I'm supposed to be including with this post.

Trying to update all updates on a Azure hosted PBX, currently at 18.0.5.415 and the only update it offers is 18.0.5.418.

I press update and it goes through the motions, but when it "finishes" and I can login to the server again, it still just says 18.0.5.415.

What logs should I upload to assist with this please?

Do you get an email with success of failure of the update? The administrator should receive an email that states if the update was successful or not. If its not successful you should receive the error.
Do you get either of these?

thanks for your message.

I've reconfigured the emailing, and this time I received the logfiles.

I've attached the logfile to this message.

It seems to mention failure of name resolution, but I used the console to confirm that ping / dns is working correctly.

sudo: unable to resolve host 3CX01AE: Temporary failure in name resolution

Any ideas?

From the logs i see these:

dpkg: error processing package waagent (--configure):
 package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should
 reinstall it before attempting configuration

and also these:

Errors were encountered while processing:
 waagent
W: --force-yes is deprecated, use one of the options starting with --allow instead.
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Rollback to 18.0.5.415...

If I am not mistaken waagent is an Azure thing for VMs.

I would recommend taking a full backup of the machine, then uninstall or deploy a new VM and reinstall the latest version of 3CX using your backup.
