Hi,

I'm trying like others to avoid the "press * to dial the operator" issue since this instance is for multiple locations and there no single person to send these messages to. On v18 and read how to create a copy of the default system prompts, replace the file in RECYAMSG with my custom one and restart services but still I'm hearing the original voicemail greeting when I test. I've verified by re-downloading the file that is in 3cx that the one there is my edited version. Am I missing something? Thanks for the help.

You may be better off copying an existing prompt set and making a new one. make sure the dept and other places use the new set.

May I offer another thought. You said there is not a central place (operator) where you can send calls. I think we can solve that challenge. At a high level, this is what you would do:
  1. Create a dummy "operator" extension
  2. Have the operator extension forward all calls to a Call Flow Designer (CFD) application
  3. Have the CFD determine how the call got to the CFD (that's the complicated part)
  4. Lookup the operator assigned to the location of the previous extension
  5. Transfer the call to the appropriate operator
We could build this for you if you are interested.

Thanks Alphabetic! I didn't realize you have to set the prompt set to the new one I created in the extensions. Problem solved!
