Hi togehter,

how we can change the dial tone in 3cx?
We use IVR -> ring groups. The dial tone of the ring group we want to replace with other music.

Is it generally possible to change the dial tone for all extensions in 3cx?

thanks in advance!

regards

Hi @bit101

Are you referring to the ringing the caller hear whiles he is waiting for his call to be answered from someone in the ring group?
If so please note that 3CX is not sending the tones. 3CX is sending a ringing message to indicate to the provider that the device is ringing but the actual tone is played by the device it self.
Also if your call is directed from an IVR to a ring group the caller should hear the music on hold of the PBX which you can change.
You can use a Queue and play whatever music you like while the callers are waiting.

Hi YiannisH_3CX,

yes i mean the dial tone the caller can hear till the call is answered.
So that the IVR will play the onhold music till a member of a ring group is answered, it ok for us.
Thats we want to get.

Many thanks!

regards

If you want 3CX to play hold music, rather than ring-back tone, while the caller waits to be answered, then you might consider using a queue rather than a ring group. If you were to change any file that generated a tone, of any sort, then it would affect all calls in the PBX. As mentioned, in the majority of scenarios, progress tones are generated in the device itself under control of a SIP message.

The IVR will play its message but once a selection is made and the call is transferred to the Ring Group, then the PBX general music on hold will play.
