When I first setup 3cx I didn't think I would need to have as many extensions but between the DID's, call queues and ring queues, I am going to run out eventually as I grow. Is there a way to update the system to go from 0-999 number of extensions? OR, do I need to start over from scratch? Or can I back up and restore but restore to a 999 extension version?

Thanks!

If you out grow the current extension length and need to increase it will require re-installing 3CX and choosing the new digit length in setup.

You can export the extensions from the management console to a CSV and change extension length. After re-install import the modified CSV.

You will have to manually recreate queues and ring groups.

It's as jcostlow said, you will need to re-install and configure from scratch without a backup. Exporting and importing extensions should work fine. Do bear in mind that if only a maximum of one IP Phone is assigned to each extension, the IP Phones will only need to reprovision to pick-up the changes and you can force this on most phones by rebooting them. This provided that that they can reach the 3CX PBX on the same FQDN/IP. 3CX Clients such as the 3CX Windows App, 3CX Mobile Clients will need to reprovision using the welcome email or QR code.

Note: Extension Groups and their rights will not carry over and will have to be reconfigured as will other 3CX PBX components. Do take a backup as a precautionary measure before proceeding.

Thank you! It seams like it should be easier but I guess it looks like I have some work to do!

You're very welcome!

I understand why you might expect that but increasing/decreasing the extension digit length means that other things such as system extensions also get affected so the changes are actually more rooted into the PBX than you might think and that is why a re-installation is required.

Please feel free to start a new thread should you require additional assistance or information!
