We just failed a demo with that issue. Tried to share a Screen from a MAC to two mobiles IOs and Android and it did not work. The prospect was not amused.
I'm for the answer to the same question. I just tried screen sharing from Firefox (Mac)...not possible. Then tried in chrome, it started the share but nothing was sent to iOS. I was testing for a conference next weekend. Not a great result!
Screensharing on macOS Catalina will be released within the next 2 weeks.
It requires the user to set permissions to Chrome to allow to record the screen in the privacy settings.
Note - Safari does not allow currently screen recording API.
This got me today also - Assumed it was working, it does not. Woould have been nice to know ahead of time. Is there a bug tracker / issue tracker anywhere that we could reference?
Hello, a customer was trying to share his screen using Chrome on MacOS and failed. Is this still a issue? From what I read, "Screensharing on macOS Catalina" should have been released 2 weeks ago.
Screensharing does work in Chrome on macOS. Chrome does prompt for additional permissions to be granted to "record" the screen which is in the privacy settings. It only asks the first time any app is asking for it and you may denied the request. Here the steps to enable it:
System Preferences
Security and Privacy
Screen Recording (sidebar).
Click the box next to Google Chrome to allow screen sharing
