Hi all,

i'm trying to connect a Fanvil G100S ATA adapter to 3CX via stun using the settings from an EXT i set up but it isnt working.

this is the first ata ive ever set up.

can anyone offer some advice?

thanks

Hold off on the help, i think i've figured it out. ill be in touch :D

Hi,
you're searching the challenge?o_O making unsupported ATA to run stun with 3CX, for the first time you didn't choose easy deal.

You may have problems with FW, also this box is not supported by 3cx, hope you're not in way to use it for Fax.

Perhaps i'm wrong but the only ATA gateways 3CX supported are for local use, not for remote.

By the way , has your ATA already been registred to 3CX ? before using it in stun mode , have you tried to register it in local ?

Hi AWS2P

I tested local and it worked fine.

i've now got it working with my cloud 3CX too.

thanks for the reply.

I can get an analogue phone to call in/out no problem. But, im struggling to send a fax via the adapter.

I can see the call going out and i can see it being received from the other end but then it seems to just drop. any ideas?

Hi,

Fax and public internet is a really bad idea.... For sure, Fax is not dead, but it should be. The timing over best effort internet is a nightmare. So if you get one page fax without an error you could be happy.

You may reduce the bit rate to get the fax connection a bit more resistant against timing problems. But it is technically not possible to eliminate the timing problem completely.

Regards,

Use VPN to connect remote fax adapter, it will not work over Internet (with STUN) by design of 3CX PBX.

Another story is how much remote fax adapter is reliable, Fanvil is not so much. You may use some high-end adapters like Patton or AudioCodes, they work almost at 100%, as they process T.38 fax reliably. Cisco ATA is also not working enough well.

Hi Guys

I set up the ATA with my local 3CX and I have the same outcome.

I've tried an MFP and a fax machine.

Fax gets picked up from receiving side but then call drops.

Just trying to see if Voiceflex can see why at the moment

If fax is important for you or your customer , keep land line for fax machine. is your sip provider support T38 on trunks?

is your ATA able to use T38 Too?

Like i said first , if you want the use of fax over stuned ATA , you are surely ready to enter in nightmare mode.;)

When customer moved to 3CX they said they could do without fax. now they've moved to 3cx they need fax. SIP supports T38 and the ATA supports T38.

I've had to set to ATA's "Fax Type" to "BYPASS-A" from "T38" as 3CX Support said "we have noted that the ATA device is terminating the fax call due to the fact that the PBX is sending connection information with port 0...With that in mind you can try and disable completely T38 re-invites from the gateway and see if the issue persists".

I am now able to successfully send a fax touch wood

Luckily my customer's 3CX is local. Though, i'm going to try via STUN for curiosity sake.

For the sake of keeping up this thread I have registered my ATA with my cloud 3CX and have successfully sent and received fax multiple times.

I believe this can be closed.

thank you all for your input.

Well done, i was completely wrong, i thought you should go into no end problems with your try and in a day all is working like a charm. :)
perhaps if you have time you could add a share of details you set to get it working, almost if someone has same idea , he can find the good way to follow.
