Connecting Verizon Landline to Self-Hosted Remote 3CX: Enabling PSTN Calls for Colleagues

Hello there,

I hope this message finds you well. I have a question regarding connecting our Verizon landline phone to a self-hosted remote 3CX system on Digital Ocean. Our goal is to enable our colleagues to receive incoming calls from the PSTN line on this system.

Could you please advise on the steps or requirements to accomplish this setup? Any guidance or suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Officially speaking, I don't there there are any gateways that work with a remote 3CX unless you use a Site2Site VPN. So step 1 is setting up that VPN to Digital Ocean. Then ordering, installing, and configuring the Gateway. Lastly, you will need to make an outbound rule include that new "SIP trunk" for calls to route over it.

Save yourself some time and money and port the number to a VoIP provider, if possible.

If we have a local 3CX system up and running, which is already connected to our PSTN line. My question is whether it's possible to connect this local 3CX system to a remote 3CX system hosted on the cloud.

It might be simpler to just forward the pstn number to a sip trunk. No hardware needed. No extra points of failure.
