Hello,

I'm trying to make a custom template for Yealink T57w and T54w. However, I can't seem to find the template file 3CX uses. I've looked at the yealinkT5x.ph.xml but there is no mention of these phones anywhere. The only mentioned phones are the T58 and T56A.

How can I go making my own template for these phones? I just want to disable WiFi and enable OPUS for internal calling.

Thank you!

Hi,

You won't find those because custom templates are edited on the management console.

https://www.3cx.com/docs/custom-ip-phone-templates/

Opus can be controlled by the extension settings, under phone provisioning so you dont really need a custom template for this. You also need to check the Settings > General for codec priorities of the PBX.

Regarding WiFi, you might not need to bother disabling it if you don't connect the phones via WiFi and they are already connected via LAN

Really? Because on the phones provisioning tab OPUS is not listed and I'm not able to add it. If I go directly to the phone IP I can see OPUS is disabled. I do have the priority set to use OPUS but if it isn't enabled...then well yeah.

Hi,

Sorry, I meant generally for phones where Opus is a supported codec.

You can use the guide to create a custom template and add it if you wish, just keep in mind that custom templates are not supported so in case it is causing you issues, you will have to return to the default template and see if the problems go away.

Ok, I thought I could just swap the xml files out without using the console. It would just make it easier and I know it would to for MSPs.

Thanks for the info!

If you swap out the template files then any upgrade from 3CX will overwrite your custom templates. Copy the template in the console rename it inside the template, and then customize it.

That said, 3CX has addressed all the major issues we had that required customer templates, so we just don't use them anymore. I certainly don't missing going over every template release and checking differences with the old ones and then updating our custom ones...
