3CX v20u18, 834 snom D735 phones running 10/1/175.0 firmware. Logged in 3CX webclient as system owner.

I saw a message earlier this week in the webclient Admin about there being a new snom firmware available to us under updates. I don't see that message saying to update our phone's firmware now, but on the Dashboard, there's a curious message in the System Information section, lower right-hand part. The message shows the number of phones in red and to the right of this there's a link labeled "Unsupported Firmware." See screen shot below. If I click the link, I get a huge xml file listing all our phones.

If I go into the System Maintenance section and click on the little blue icon that says "1 NEW," next to "Updates available," all I see is the option to download the v20u4 update. No phone firmware available to download...

When I look in a phone's System Info, it shows we're running 10.1.175.0 on our phones which I recall updating to around mid-April '24.

The snom support site lists a number of newer firmware versions - I'm wondering why at least one doesn't show up in the 3CX to update. Yes, I get it that 3CX only makes firmware updates avUntitled.pngailable from within 3CX that they've tested and if we download direct from snom then that would show as unsupported.

I guess I'm less concerned about having seen a snom phone firmware update that doesn't show now than I am about seeing we're running "Unsupported Firmware" but not finding any newer snom phone firmware in the 3CX Dashboard.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

The firmware files are downloaded to the PBX automatically. The update notification showing is just a visual, and once you go to the update page, if no updates are showing it means the PBX has downloaded them.

The updates will not apply to the phones automatically. This is up to you to decide when to apply them.

Okay, thanks! Right - I found out the hard way on v18 that when I clicked the upgrade link next to one phone, the 3CX would eventually upgrade the rest. Fun times, especially because the new firmware had issues! I suspect a setting or two might've prevented this. My recollection is new downloaded firmware ends up in the firmware_new directory but once you upgrade one phone the file is in the firmware directory. Eventually all of our phones picked up the new but bad firmware...

I now know to upgrade a phone via the device's UI, not the 3CX. :)

Thanks again, Nicholas
