Hi! Thanks for putting this together. I went through the Tutorial this afternoon on one of our 2019 RDS Servers and unfortunately I'm not having any luck with it. I installed the MSI as an administrator and then tried running the "Install Application on Remote Desktop" as a user (I moved the user out from their home OU in Active Directory as normally Control Panel access is blocked for our users) this seemed to run ok but after the user logged back on they could no longer run the 3CX App. The shortcut in in the Start Menu appears broken and it's not displaying the 3CX logo (just the default shortcut icon) and when you try to run it nothing happens. If I look at the paths in the details of the shortcut the "Target" is pointing to this folder in the User's profile \AppData\Local\Programs\3CXDesktopApp\3CXDesktopApp.exe but the "Start In" Value is pointing to that same path but in the "administrators" profile so it seems like there is an issue there as the user doesn't have permissions into that path under the administrator's profile. Is there anything I can try to rectify this?

Hi Nick,

Dug into this a little more this morning. The user doesn't have the \Programs\3CXDesktopApp" under their profile at all (Which explains the broken link) I believe this is because the user is not an Admin on the Terminal Server. Running "Install Application on Remote Desktop" needed admin credentials (I provided the admin credentials when Windows prompted for the elevated credentials) which might explain why the executable was put underneath the administrators profile and the shortcut was created pointing there.

I manually copied the files from \AppData\Local\Programs\3CXDesktopApp\ under the users profile and created the missing folders and was able to launch the app that way from there however in the web client clicking the "Provision" (Using Chrome) button doesn't seem to connect the app.

We could script deploying the executable to user's profiles and setting up shortcuts in their start menus that point to the right paths, to get around needing admin permissions but I'm not sure if doing this is bypassing something else that the installer is doing that is causing the App not to be able to be provisioned?

Happy to try anything else you'd like as we've got both and RDS and 3CX test environment so it's pretty easy for me to try things without impacting users

Can you please clean-up whatever you manually copied or installed on the terminal server and do the following:
1. Connect to the server with a user with admin rights.
2. Open “Control Panel > Programs > Install Application on Remote Desktop…”
3. In the pop-up message click “Yes”
4. Browse to the installation file, click “Next” and when installation is complete click “Finish”

Users will connect as normal users on terminal server, open the WebClient and provision the Desktop App with their account. No installation is required by the users.

User's directory should be :
%appdata%\3CXDesktopApp\

Installation directory should be:
C:\Program Files\3CXDesktopApp
