Dial send delay for slow dialers

Hi, my partner often dials slowly as he has to look up the number. So starts dialing say 4 digits, then long pause...what was that number again? After a few seconds, the call has already been sent by those 4 digits and since its a bad number it gets a fast busy of course. How do i set a delay on this so it won't auto send so quickly?

On the other hand, I thought maybe this could be a good thing to leave alone for the possibility of an e911 call. Let's say you have an emergency and cant hit send after dialing 911. Well at least it dialed for you quickly. Thanks for the help!

It will all depend on the device being used. Some (most) have timers, or dialplans, that can be adjusted to suit. Which phone is this?

Hey Dan,

What kind of phones do you have? You can modify your phone template to set this globally. For Yealink, the setting is

phone_setting.inter_digit_time = x

x=the number of seconds before the phone starts dialing. Yealink default is 4 and can be set up to 14.

Regarding e911. Seems like you are overthinking it... even if you increase the timeout to 6, it only 2 additional seconds.... Also reinforce what to do when dialing 911 by communicating and training.

Hi all, thanks for that. The phones in use are Yealink T21P E2. So it sounds like i just copy the standard Yealink template to my own custom template and then add in my custom code for that setting. Then reprovision the phone with the custom template and that's it?

Copy the base template and make the changes to the copy.

Word of advice, try to keep the total number of templates used by users to a single template. This way if you need to make global changes in the future, it's one and done!

Also, most likely you are going to modify and not add. So 'find' is your best pal here.
