I have an interesting request from a customer to create a set of conferences that queues can transfer callers into, from what I understand they want to create chat rooms for their teams to use without having to create them. (NOTE: their extensions are 4 digits, with the conference line being 7000 instead of 700).

I have played around with using 7000*0000, I can do it from my test extension perfectly fine but when the queue transfers it the access denied message is played. We also have turned off requiring a pin, the conference was created in the Web client. I have also tried it the other way where you do 7000*0000*# also doesn't work to create them.

So that is actually what I was trying above that gave me the Access Denied. But it seems like it doesn't like the traffic coming from a queue instead of a user.

Just to confirm, is the following an example of what is happening:

1. Incoming call goes to Call Queue
2. Call Queue agent answers the call
3. Call Queue agent transfers call to 7000*1234
4. External caller hears "Access Denied" message

If not, please clarify. If yes, make sure that you are NOT using an extension number as the conference ID and that you are not using two asterisk symbols such as to end up with something like: 7000**#### (where #### is an extension number). Make sure you are dialing 7000 then one asterisk symbol * and then a random 4 digit ID such as 1234: 7000*1234

Yep, that's what they are trying to do. I have tried it these ways:
  • 7000*1234 (Non-Extension)
  • 7000*6001 ( Extension)
When I try it directly it works but requires more information from me.

This is what the queue looks like:

I have also tried creating a fake extension and putting it as a queue agent/final destination, where that extension forwards the call through its "mobile number Field" which I also the below in that:
  • 7000*1234 (Non-Extension)
  • 7000*6001 ( Extension)

The interesting thing I did the last update on the phone system, it's now working.
