I know there is a simple answer for this but I have googled it and cannot find out.

When I dial 411 immediately a message plays that says "no directory entries match your search" I did a yum update elastix and have tried to find the file where the directory is programmed. I believe I may have a missing prompt file because I loaded the Vector greetings. Where would I look to diagnose this problem. Elastix 2.4.0

Hi

You should setting up Asterisk Phonebook into Freepbx - Tools - System Administration.

Try this.

Thanks I will try that. Also what file do I edit to tell the directory to use the first name?

I tried that asterisk phonebook but no change in the greeting.

411 takes you into Asterisk Phone book.

For the directory, you can program your IVR to route your call into it. Under the directory setup, you can tell how to search, via first name, last name, or both. If you want your name instead of Asterisk spelling out letter by letter, you must record your name under your voicemail setup.

Hope that is what you are looking for.

That is exactly what I am looking for. Where is the directory setup page? It is not in my menus in Elastix 2.4.0 or inside the freepbx modules.

Go into Freepbx. First time, you must install the Directory module.

Still getting the message "no directory entries match your request" I have the directory module loaded in freepbx and I have setup extensions. I have it set as the default directory. There was nowhere to change ask for first or last name.

The message plays so fast that I believe the prompt for dialing by name is not there. Where can I go to find out what prompts should be playing

Post your log here so we can see what's going on.

what command to get the log

here is a command line output when I dial 411

411 goes to the "Asterisk Phonebook" not "Directory".

To go to Directory, it is another key. You might want to check your "Features" and change the default "#" to something else so you can get into it. Otherwise, just route it via IVR.

I have tried this with both 411 and # and get the same result.
Here is the output when I press #

Appears something is broken or not configured correctly. By default, it should play 'dir-intro.gsm' after going into the Directory. Is this a default Elastix installation or was customization done to this PBX?

the only thing that has changed is that I loaded the voice vector voices for english. I have also removed them and tried it with the default voice prompts but it still doesn't work.

Looking at how VectorVoice is installed, you might have changed the linking to the sounds & voicemail directory. Maybe the symbolic links are pointing at the wrong directories. That is where I would start my troubleshooting steps at.

If I use the ln command how can I use it to restore the default settings? What ln commands will do it?

This is the command I see from VoiceVector's website on how to install their package:

Code:
cp voicepack.tgz /var/lib/asterisk
cd /var/lib/asterisk
mv sounds sounds.old
tar -xzf voicepack.tgz
cd sounds
ln -s /var/spool/asterisk/vm vm
ln -s /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail voicemail

I am assuming you ran the same commands. The fix for you is to reverse that commands and have the folders pointing to the Asterisk folders instead of VoiceVector.

ln -s /var/spool/asterisk/vm vm
ln -s /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail voicemail

These are the commands I ran to setup the Voice Vector prompts. The file structure has not changed from the original.
/var/lib/asterisk/sounds is still there and has not been changed. I only copied the prompts to that directory.

I did this same thing on Elastix 2.0 and didn't have any problems. What command would tell the directory program to look at the
/var/lib/asterisk/sounds/ folder to find the greetings. I have looked at the extensions.additional.conf and found the following error that another site told me about. I have tried to correct it however it will not save when I edit the file.

{app-directory}

exten => #,n,AGI(directory,${DIR-CONTEXT},from-did-direct,${DIRECTORY:0:1}${DIRECTORY_OPTS}o)

to

exten => #,n,AGI(directory,${DIR-CONTEXT},from-did-direct,${DIRECTORY:0:1}${DIRECTORY_OPTS})

Do you know which program tells 411, or #, or my new created directory in freepbx which prompt to play?

Maybe someone else can chime in and help you out. As for where you are at, I cannot help you further on this.
