Hello All,

Does 3CX SMB Allow For Call Recording, or will I need Pro License to enable recording?

Also, from what I understand 3CX hosts the SMB license whil for the Pro License I will need to signup another service like Amazon AWS or have it hosted on a computer at my office, is this correct?

Thank you!

Yes, 3CX SMB allows to record calls and they are accessible to managers (see whole group recordings) and the users themselves if you enable that.

For your second question, 3CX Free and SMB are hosted by 3CX and run on the multitenant version of the system. 3CX Pro and Enterprise will indeed require a virtual machine or on-premise machine to run. This can be either in 3CX Hosted (so, renewed every year with your license), your own provider (AWS, Azure, etc.), or a physical machine in your office.

Depending on your needs, keep in mind that SMB is quite limited in terms of customization and features. It's perfect for very small teams or low-usage. If you need anything more than SMB, the price difference can really make it worth the Pro license + 3CX Hosted.

Wow, thank you so much for this great information. My team is small and growing, so I will probably just go ahead and purchase the Pro License and have 3CX host, as the cost is not that much more.

One more question if you don't mind, what are some of the downsides to hosting with 3CX over hosting with another provider or on a physical machine in my office?

Thank you so much. I am new to this technology and I appreciate all of the great feedback this forum provides. I will save so much money switching my other numbers over from Ring Central and Ooma. :)

3CX Hosted has a few restrictions, for example, you need to use a supported provider and you cannot use things like the Call Flows. However, based on what you're saying, you'll would be a perfect candidate for 3CX Hosted! They manage the instance, back it up, and will support you in case of issues.

That being said, I would recommend contacting a partner to help you get started and learn the basics, so that you can be a 3CX Hero in no time! (Certainly not plugging ourselves right here!)
