Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar setup: We currently have a Draytek 3900 with 2 FTTC connections. WAN2 is used for 3CX and also our site to site VPN to our 2nd office.

I have setup the standard QoS and rules to force VOIP traffic over WAN2 but we occassionaly get crackling on some calls.

I was hoping that someone else might have experience with this router and might have some settings advice that I may have missed.

Many thanks

The joys on running voip traffic over internet links - too many factors that can cause issues like this

I doubt it down to any settings on the Draytek

I suspect it is down to our internet lines however i was wondering if it was due to forcing the traffic over one WAN that might be causing issues with the call quality.

Probably not, but never say never. I have an installtion using a Draytek using 3 WANs and no issues are seen. However, this may be the difference between the bandwidth utilization and/or the ISP.

Most of the Draytek routers have a VoIP monitor in the bandwidth or QoS settings. It was an addition made to most of the firmware versions last year, so you may need to check and see if your router is up to date.

In any event you can check the monitor and see what the router is reporting with regard to jitter, latency and packet loss for any/all calls in progress at the time.
